Building Energy Rating (BER)

What is a BER?

A Building Energy Rating or BER is similar to the energy label on your fridge with a scale of A-G. A-rated homes are the most energy efficient and G the least efficient.

We offer Preliminary and Final BER Certificates for single and/or multiple residential units for individual owners, developers and landlords.

As part of our service, in addition to the BER Certificate, you will also receive an Advisory Report, which will help you to identify how you might improve the energy performance of your home.

Department of the Environment Home Energy Saving (HES) Scheme

Grants are available through Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI) under the HES scheme for various insulation measures ranging from €250 to €4000 grants.

As part of this scheme an initial BER assessment of your house will need to be carried out. As part of this service, we will provide details of any improvement work that is required and a further BER assessment will be carried out when the work is completed.

Pricing for BER Certificates

Prices start from €195 (inclusive of VAT and SEI Registration fee) for a BER. Note: these require one on-site visit for the house survey.

Under the new Department of the Environment House Energy Savings Scheme, two on-site visits are required (i.e. survey of house to identify remedial work including BER Certificate and follow up survey when remedial work is carried out with second visit BER Certificate).
